Morocco, circa 1930.
Warp: wool, Weft: wool, Pile: wool
This Zemmour Kilim (Zemor Kilim) is in very good condition and was woven by the Berber people of the mid Atlas Mountains in Morocco. It has a banded composition, with small geometric lines crossing the field. The geometric patterns, such as diamonds and triangles, are skilfully arranged in the bands, interspersed with plain bands.
Red, white, black, orange, green and yellow are used in many Berber kilims, especially those of the Zemmour tribe. Blue is occasionally found in Beni M'Guild and Zaiane kilims, and is used infrequently. This kilim is in excellent condition and is a useful smaller size.
