イスタンブール近郊、イズミット湾の北端に位置する海岸都市ヘレケ。1843年にオスマン帝国のアブドゥルメジトがヘレケ帝国工房を設立して以来、ヘレケは特別なカーペット生産の中心地となっています。当初、ヘレケのカーペットはオスマン貴族のためだけに作られ、国家元首や王宮を訪れる賓客への贈り物とされていました。カーペットが一般に提供されるようになったのは1890年以降のことで、今日ではコレクターの間で高い人気を誇っています。ヘレケカーペットはトルコ織りの伝統の最高峰であり、このカーペットは最高品質のトルコ手織りカーペットです。

The coastal city of Hereke is located at the northern end of Izmit Bay, near Istanbul. Hereke has been a special carpet-weaving centre since 1843, when Ottoman Emperor Abdülmezit established the Hereke Imperial Workshop. Initially, Hereke carpets were made exclusively for the Ottoman nobility, as gifts for heads of state and guests visiting the royal palace. It was not until 1890 that carpets began to be offered to the public, and today they are highly sought after by collectors. Hereke carpets are the pinnacle of the Turkish weaving tradition, and the best quality Turkish hand-knotted carpets are found here.
